Before the Pussycat Dolls, before Destiny's Child and way before The Spice Girls, The Mary Jane Girls strutted their stuff and made sexy funky music. Proteges of the late Rick James, they were fantastic. Not as polished as the Dolls but without them, there would be no Pussycat Dolls. "In My House" got to the top of the US charts in 1985 and the band are the most sampled girl band in history.
