Made in cyberspace ? Our challenge to music makers
I was reading through a couple of my favourite music industry messageboards: www.tipsheet.co.uk (Hi JK) and www.recordoftheday.com (well done to Joe Taylor and the rest of the team) and there are frequent arguments about whether myspace or youtube have been responsible for genuinely breaking a hit. So myhotmusic are issuing a challenge to any artist with quality music of course. Can you participate in a challenge that would once and for all prove whether you can break a hit using only FREE internet marketing tools like myspace and youtube. You can also use www.pressbox.co.uk or www.prweb.com and only use their free service. Perhaps we should create our own Dogme charter for music to ensure that people abide by the rules. To make this more interesting perhaps we should stipulate that you have to create a brand new myspace page for the track. Let us know what you think. Your comments and feedback are very important.
